New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a series of stronger legal measures to combat exam paper leaks, pledging faster trials, stricter punishments, and a new legislative framework as protests over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination irregularities continue across the country.
In a self-recorded video message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said the Union Cabinet would consider a draft bill introducing fast-track courts and enhanced penalties for those involved in examination fraud. “Paper leaks are not an ordinary issue. For millions of students and their parents, they are deeply painful,” the Prime Minister said.
He added that he had instructed government departments to establish fast-track courts to ensure that individuals responsible for paper leaks are prosecuted and punished swiftly.
According to the Prime Minister, officials prepared a draft proposal containing provisions for special courts and harsher penalties, which will be discussed by the Cabinet before being finalized and presented to Parliament.

The Prime Minister said the government intends to move the legislation as early as possible, with the goal of securing parliamentary approval during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
