Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh | : Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority (MPRRDA) to construct an 8-kilometre all-weather pucca road connecting Obri to Kasaiya via Kanhaiya Dah in Singrauli district. The project, valued at ₹11.71 crore, will be fully funded through NCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The agreement marks another significant step toward strengthening rural infrastructure, improving transport connectivity, and supporting socio-economic development in one of India’s major coal-producing regions.
MoU Signed in Presence of District Administration
The MoU was signed in the presence of Singrauli District Collector Gaurav Beniwal.
Representing Northern Coalfields Limited, General Manager (CSR) Rajiv Ranjan signed the agreement, while General Manager Ganesh Prasad Mishra signed on behalf of the Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority (MPRRDA), Singrauli.
Project Includes Bridges and Culverts
Under the agreement, NCL will provide ₹11.71 crore to finance the complete construction of the 8-km paved road, including essential cross-drainage infrastructure such as:
- Bridges
- Culverts
- Drainage structures
These additions are designed to ensure year-round road accessibility, particularly during the monsoon season, when rural roads often become difficult to use.

The proposed road is expected to significantly improve connectivity between villages in the region by providing a shorter and more reliable route to Devsar Block.
