Mumbai, July 16, 2026: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for strategic discussions on the proposed Dugarajapatnam Shipbuilding Cluster, a major greenfield shipyard project aimed at strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure and indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.
The meeting marks another significant step toward realizing the goals of the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047, the Government of India’s long-term roadmap for transforming the country’s maritime sector into a globally competitive industry.
The Andhra Pradesh delegation included Shri M. T. Krishna Babu, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh; Shri Jasmeet Singh Bindra, IRTS, Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Authority; and Shri C. V. Praveen Adhitya, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board.
The delegation was received by Capt. Jagmohan (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, where both sides held detailed discussions on the development of the proposed Dugarajapatnam Shipbuilding Cluster.
Focus on India’s Maritime Future
During the meeting, officials explored opportunities to establish a state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility that will contribute to Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. The proposed project is expected to play a vital role in expanding India’s shipbuilding infrastructure, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, and reducing dependence on foreign shipyards.
