Bilaspur : South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has officially launched Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, a nationwide cleanliness campaign being observed from June 16 to June 30, 2026, in line with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission. The fortnight-long initiative commenced with a Cleanliness Pledge Ceremony held at the Visitors’ Hall of the Administrative Building at the SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur.
The event was led by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Shri Harish Duhan, who administered the Swachhata Pledge to employees, officers, stakeholders, and representatives of labor unions. The ceremony witnessed the presence of several senior officials, including Director (Technical/Operations) Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar, Director (Finance) Shri D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Himanshu Jain, Director (Technical) Project & Planning Shri Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, along with department heads, employees, and union representatives.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Harish Duhan emphasized that cleanliness is not merely a workplace responsibility but an essential part of institutional culture and social responsibility. He encouraged every employee to actively participate in maintaining a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment within SECL’s operational areas and surrounding communities.
He further stated that the vision of a Clean India (Swachh Bharat) can only be achieved through collective efforts, active public participation, and consistent commitment from every individual. According to him, the success of the campaign depends on transforming cleanliness into a daily habit rather than limiting it to a periodic activity.
As part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, SECL will organize a series of cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, community outreach programs, and employee participation activities across all its mines, offices, and establishments. These initiatives aim to promote public awareness, encourage environmental responsibility, and inspire people to contribute actively to the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Through this initiative, SECL reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and the Government of India’s vision of creating a cleaner, healthier, and greener nation. The organization expects the fortnight-long campaign to strengthen awareness about sanitation and inspire greater public participation in maintaining cleanliness across workplaces and communities.
