Mumbai — Punjab National Bank (PNB) has approved the appointment of KFin Technologies Limited as its new Registrar to an Issue and Share Transfer Agent (RTA) for its listed equity shares. The decision marks a transition from its existing registrar, Beetal Financial & Computer Services Pvt. Ltd., following a competitive selection process.
The bank disclosed the development in regulatory filings submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited (BSE) earlier today.
Transition Details and Process
According to the bank, the appointment of KFin Technologies comes after a structured Request for Proposal (RFP) process aimed at evaluating and selecting a registrar capable of meeting evolving operational and digital requirements.
While KFin Technologies has been finalized as the incoming RTA, Beetal Financial will continue to function in its current role during the transition period. The shift will be implemented in phases to ensure continuity and data integrity.
The transition involves several technical and procedural steps, including:
- Migration of shareholder data
- Changes in electronic connectivity
- Completion of regulatory and operational approvals
PNB noted that confirmations from depositories such as National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) are required before the transition can be finalized.
The bank added that the effective date of KFin Technologies’ appointment will be announced once all processes are completed.
Strategic Significance
Registrar and Share Transfer Agents play a critical role in managing investor-related services, including maintaining shareholder records, processing share transfers, and handling investor queries.
PNB’s move to appoint KFin Technologies is expected to enhance its shareholder servicing capabilities, particularly in terms of digital infrastructure and operational efficiency. The transition aligns with broader industry trends toward improved investor experience and streamlined backend operations.
