Bilaspur Robbery Case Cracked in Mirzapur: 2 Criminals Injured in Police Encounter, 4 Inter-State Robbers Arrested

The sensational robbery that took place in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, has been successfully cracked in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. In a major breakthrough, a joint police operation led to the arrest of four inter-state robbers. Two of the accused were injured during a police encounter.

According to police officials, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Aparna Rajat Kaushik, Superintendent of Police, Mirzapur. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team comprising the SOG, surveillance unit, and police personnel from Ahraura and Adalhat police stations tracked the suspects who were fleeing towards Varanasi with the looted valuables.

Police set up a barricade near the Sonbarsa canal in the Ahraura area and intercepted a car bearing registration number CG13V7002. Two accused were arrested from the vehicle. During the search, police recovered 1.550 kilograms of gold jewelry, two country-made pistols (.315 bore), two live cartridges, and ₹46,100 in cash.

During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed the whereabouts of two other accomplices. Police teams then reached the Lakhaniya Dari forest area, where the remaining suspects were spotted. On being surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police team with the intention to kill. Police responded with controlled firing, injuring both criminals in their legs and arresting them on the spot.

From their possession, police recovered 2.218 kilograms of gold ornaments, one country-made pistol (.32 bore), live and empty cartridges, and ₹1 lakh in cash.

In total, the police seized over 3.8 kilograms of gold jewelry, ₹1,46,100 in cash, multiple illegal firearms, and ammunition.

During questioning, the accused confessed that on February 17, they had rammed a car in Bilaspur’s Rajkishore Nagar police station area, assaulted the driver with a pistol and hammer, and fled with gold jewelry and cash.

Police confirmed that all four accused are members of an inter-state criminal gang. Their criminal history is being verified, and investigations are underway to trace their involvement in similar crimes across other states.

Cases have been registered against all four accused at Ahraura police station under relevant sections of law, and they are being produced before the court. The Mirzapur Police have termed this operation a major success in dismantling a large inter-state robbery gang.
