23 participants attend programme; trainees showcase AI-based projects focused on workplace solutions and automation
Bhilai : The Human Resources–Learning and Development (HR-L&D) Department of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) organised a special training programme on ‘AI at Workplace’ to promote the practical use of Artificial Intelligence and help employees develop skills for adopting AI-driven work practices.
The programme was held on September 7, 2026, at the Bhilai Management Development Centre (BMDC). A total of 23 participants, including employees of the HR-L&D Department as well as trade apprentices and graduate apprentices, took part in the training.
Focus on Building AI Skills for the Changing Workplace
The programme was inaugurated by Pawan Kumar, Executive Director (Human Resources). He highlighted the need for employees to continuously upgrade their AI-related skills and stay updated with emerging technologies in a rapidly changing work environment.
He also encouraged employees to learn from young trainees and make use of their enthusiasm, creativity and digital skills in adopting new technologies at the workplace.
HR-L&D Shares AI Initiatives
While outlining the programme, Sanjeev Kumar Srivastava, General Manager-in-Charge and Head of HR-L&D, spoke about various AI-driven initiatives and activities being undertaken by the department.
He shared updates on AI-based projects and emphasised the importance of developing AI-related capabilities among employees to improve workplace processes and productivity.
Apprentices Showcase AI-Based Projects
One of the key highlights of the programme was the ‘AI-Based Project Showcase’, in which trade and graduate apprentices posted at BMDC demonstrated practical projects and applications developed using various AI tools.
The young trainees showcased examples of how Artificial Intelligence can be used to address workplace challenges, automate routine tasks and improve overall work efficiency.
AI-based projects were demonstrated by Vaibhav Lakshmi Dubey, Nitin Patel, Kaveri Sindhe, Mahima Thakur, Riya Gritlahre, Gokul Das Sahu and Dikeshwari Sahu.
Participants Get Hands-On Exposure to AI Tools
During the training programme, participants were introduced to the latest AI tools and their potential applications in the workplace.
Through practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants gained an understanding of how different AI tools work and explored ways in which they could be integrated into their day-to-day activities.
The programme was coordinated by K. Shiva, who conducted the inaugural session, while Saurabh Varshney, General Manager (HR-L&D), delivered the vote of thanks.
The initiative highlighted BSP’s focus on building technology-oriented skills among its workforce and encouraging the practical adoption of Artificial Intelligence to improve workplace efficiency.
