Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (JP Power) has delivered a powerful rally on the Street, soaring over 29% across just two sessions as investor sentiment turned sharply positive.
JP Power shares continued their upward climb on Thursday, jumping 12.26% to hit an intraday high of ₹22.80. This surge comes on the back of a strong previous session, taking the stock’s two-day gains to 29.25%.
Why the Sudden Spike?
The rally was triggered by a significant development concerning its associate company, Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JP Associates).
Creditors of JP Associates unanimously approved Adani Enterprises Ltd’s resolution plan, marking a major step in the insolvency process.
Earlier, Vedanta had topped the September e-auction with a ₹17,000 crore bid. However, lenders opted for Adani due to higher upfront payments, strengthening market sentiment around the JP Group entities.
Heavy Action on the Counter
The stock saw unusually high trading activity, with 4.87 crore shares changing hands — far above the two-week average of 1.08 crore.
Turnover soared to ₹108 crore, and the company’s market cap now stands at ₹15,118 crore.
ED Arrest of Non-Executive Chairman
In a separate update, JP Power confirmed that its Non-Executive Chairman, Manoj Gaur, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate under the PMLA, 2002.
The company clarified that the alleged offence does not relate to JP Power but pertains to Jaypee Infratech Ltd (JIL) and JP Associates, the latter currently under CIRP since June 3, 2024.
Technical Setup Remains Bullish
Market experts remain optimistic.
Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer at Mastertrust, noted that the stock looks technically strong and may soon test the ₹25 level.
JP Power is currently trading above all major simple moving averages — from 5-day to 200-day — showing strong momentum.
The 14-day RSI stands at 82.80, indicating the stock is in overbought territory but still trending firm.
