Two Arrested in Prostitution Racket at Hotel in Durg District


Durg, India |Durg Police have arrested two individuals in connection with an alleged prostitution racket operating from a lodge in the Chhawani area of Durg district, officials said on Sunday.

According to the police, a tip-off was received on February 9 regarding immoral trafficking activities being carried out at a hotel located within the Chhawani police station limits. To verify the information, the police followed due legal procedure and deployed a decoy customer as part of the operation.

During the raid, police found that the lodge owner and the receptionist were allegedly arranging young women for customers through a broker, facilitating illegal prostitution activities inside the hotel. Based on the evidence gathered at the spot, both suspects were taken into custody.

A case has been registered under Sections 3, 4, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, under Crime Number 88/2026. The accused were later produced before a court and have been sent to judicial remand. Further investigation in the case is currently underway.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ghanesh Roy (56) and Sita Chaudhary (25), both residents of the Chhawani area of Durg district.

During the operation, police seized ₹500 in cash and two mobile phones allegedly used in the commission of the crime.

Police officials commended the Chhawani police team, including women officers and the investigation unit, for their coordinated and prompt action.

Durg Police have urged citizens to immediately report any information related to immoral trafficking or similar illegal activities. Authorities reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such offenses.
