Tiruchy : The annual Aadi Seer (ceremonial offerings) from the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple will be sent to the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple on Thursday, ahead of the Aadi Pooram car festival scheduled to be held on August 14.
The ceremonial gifts were displayed at the Renga Vilas Mandapam at the Srirangam temple on Wednesday for devotees before being taken in a traditional procession around the temple’s streets.
Traditional Offerings for Aadi Pooram
According to temple officials, the practice of sending ceremonial offerings from Srirangam to Srivilliputhur is an annual tradition observed ahead of the Aadi Pooram festival.
The offerings include:
- Pattu vastram (silk clothing)
- Garlands
- Fruits
- Turmeric
- Kumkum
- Sandalwood
- Dry fruits
The ceremonial gifts are prepared as an offering from the Srirangam temple and will be presented to the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple.
Seer to Reach Srivilliputhur on Thursday
The offerings are scheduled to leave Srirangam on Thursday morning and are expected to reach Srivilliputhur by Thursday afternoon.
A delegation led by Srirangam Temple Joint Commissioner (HR and CE) Siva Ramkumar will formally present the ceremonial offerings to the Srivilliputhur temple authorities.
The annual exchange of offerings reflects the long-standing religious and cultural connection between the two prominent Vaishnavite temples of Tamil Nadu.
Andal to Wear Srirangam’s Vastram During Aadi Pooram Procession
As part of the tradition, Goddess Andal at Srivilliputhur will wear the silk vastram presented by the Srirangam temple during the deity’s procession on Friday, August 14, coinciding with the Aadi Pooram car festival.
The festival is one of the most significant annual celebrations associated with Srivilliputhur Andal, attracting devotees from across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
The ceremonial sending of the Aadi Seer from Srirangam once again highlights the deep religious traditions and spiritual links connecting the major Vaishnavite temples of Tamil Nadu.
