Raipur Rural Police Arrest Woman in Major Drug Bust Under ‘Operation Nischay’

Raipur, Chhattisgarh |In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Raipur Rural Police have arrested a woman and seized a large consignment of drugs, cash, and weapons under their ongoing anti-drug अभियान “Operation Nischay.”

Acting on specific intelligence, the Tilda-Neora Police Station team arrested 30-year-old Madhu Mishra from her residence at Atal Niwas, Ward No. 22, Sasaholi area, on January 28. Police recovered 73 kilograms of marijuana, 790 banned Nitrosun tablets, and three button-operated knives from the premises.

In addition to the narcotics, authorities also seized ₹1.87 lakh in cash, six mobile phones, and one tablet device. The total estimated value of the seized items is approximately ₹41.75 lakh.

An FIR has been registered against the accused at Tilda-Neora Police Station under Sections 20(B) and 22(C) of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act (Crime No. 41/26).

Changing Crime Patterns, Adaptive Policing

Police officials said the arrest highlights how drug traffickers are increasingly changing their operational methods to evade law enforcement. Under the direction of Inspector General of Police (Raipur Range – Rural) Amresh Mishra and Superintendent of Police (Raipur Rural) Shweta Srivastava Sinha, Operation Nischay is being carried out with an intelligence-driven and surveillance-focused approach.

“Criminal networks are shifting tactics, but our strategies are evolving faster,” a senior police official said, emphasizing the use of micro-level surveillance and end-to-end investigation methods.

Hidden Chamber Used for Drug Storage

According to police, a specially constructed hidden chamber inside the house was used to store narcotics, cash, and weapons. During questioning, the accused admitted to possessing and selling drugs from her residence.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of City Superintendent of Police (Vidhan Sabha) Virendra Chaturvedi and led by Inspector Ramakant Tiwari, Station House Officer of Tilda-Neora.

Continued Crackdown

Police stated that sustained pressure under Operation Nischay has forced traffickers to abandon traditional routes and methods. However, law enforcement agencies remain committed to dismantling these networks through continuous intelligence inputs and targeted action.

Further investigation is underway to identify supply chains and possible links to larger drug trafficking networks.
