NTPC Bongaigaon Signs Agreement With Cosmic Foundation to Install Solar-Powered RO Water Systems


New Delhi, India: NTPC Limited’s Bongaigaon project has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Cosmic Foundation, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the installation of solar-powered water purification systems under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The agreement was signed on February 2, 2026, as part of NTPC’s ongoing CSR initiatives in Assam.

The MoA signing took place in the presence of Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region-II and Southern Region), NTPC Limited; Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; and Anurag Gupta, General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), NTPC Bongaigaon. Amit Kumar Asthana, Assistant General Manager (HR), signed the agreement on behalf of NTPC Bongaigaon, while Awanish Tripathi, President of Cosmic Foundation, represented the foundation.

Under the agreement, 10 Solar Water Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems will be installed and commissioned at selected public locations across the Guwahati Parliamentary Constituency. The project, with a total cost of ₹43 lakh, aims to provide reliable access to safe drinking water using renewable energy.

Each RO system will be powered by a 1200 Wp MNRE-approved solar module and will feature a 500-liter water storage capacity. The systems comply with IP66, ROHS, and CE standards and are certified under ISO 14001:2015, ensuring durability, environmental safety, and operational reliability.

Speaking on the occasion, Arindam Sinha reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to community welfare and sustainable development, highlighting that access to safe drinking water remains a critical public health priority. Awanish Tripathi welcomed the partnership and assured timely project execution, along with quality installation and long-term maintenance of the systems.

The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s focus on integrating renewable energy solutions with essential social infrastructure. The project is expected to deliver long-term social benefits by improving public health and promoting environmentally responsible development in the region.

The MoA ceremony was also attended by Madhurjya Singha Lahkar, Deputy General Manager (Corporate Communication), and Smriti Das, Executive (CSR), NTPC Bongaigaon.
