MRPL Wins Two Major Innovation Awards at FIPI Ceremony During India Energy Week 2026


Mangalore, India Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Enterprise and a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has strengthened its reputation as a leader in innovation after winning two prestigious honors at the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) Awards, held alongside India Energy Week (IEW) 2026.

MRPL received the FIPI Innovator of the Year (Team) Award 2025, recognizing the company’s consistent excellence in refining innovation and development of indigenous technologies. In a separate individual category, R. Karthick of MRPL was awarded the Young Achiever of the Year in the Oil Industry (Male) for his significant contributions to innovation in India’s downstream oil and gas sector.

The Innovator of the Year award was accepted by Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath, Managing Director of MRPL, and Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, Director (Refinery). The awards were presented by Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in the presence of Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

India Energy Week is the country’s premier global energy platform, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and technology innovators to discuss energy security and the transition to cleaner energy. FIPI serves as the apex body of India’s oil and gas industry, promoting policy advocacy, technological advancement, and sustainable growth.

With this latest recognition, MRPL has achieved a notable milestone by winning government-backed innovation awards in refining for the fifth time in the last four years, highlighting its sustained focus on operational excellence, process optimization, and technology-driven growth.
