Durg, India |Durg Police have arrested a three-member gang involved in motorcycle thefts across multiple police station areas in Bhilai, successfully solving four separate cases linked to the group.
According to police officials, on February 10, Supela Police received a tip-off that three individuals were searching for buyers to sell a motorcycle near Supela Chowk. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and detained the suspects for questioning.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to stealing motorcycles from deserted locations by first conducting surveillance and then breaking vehicle locks. They also revealed that they were preparing to dismantle the stolen motorcycles and sell the parts to different buyers. The accused cited unemployment as the reason behind their criminal activities.
Police said the gang used a Bajaj Pulsar 150 motorcycle (registration number CG-07-LZ-3570) to carry out the thefts, parking it a short distance away from the crime scenes to avoid suspicion.
During questioning, the accused confessed to stealing the following motorcycles:
- Hero Splendor Plus from Sector-09 Hanuman Temple parking area
- Hero HF Deluxe from Jail Tiraha, Padmanabhpur
- Hero CD Deluxe from Chandra-Maurya parking area, Supela
- Hero HF Deluxe from Akashganga Himalaya Complex, Supela
Based on the investigation, cases have been registered at Supela Police Station under Crime Numbers 201/2026 and 206/2026 in accordance with Sections 303(2), 112(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused were produced before the court and have been sent to judicial remand.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Wajid Ali (21), a resident of Sangram Chowk; Mohammad Mubarak (22) from Arjun Nagar Camp-01; and Amit Prajapati (35) from Ravan Bhatta, Supela.
Police recovered four stolen motorcycles along with the Bajaj Pulsar used in committing the crimes.
Senior officials praised Supela Police Station staff, particularly Station House Officer Inspector Vijay Yadav, Assistant Sub-Inspector Motilal Khurse, and Constable Amardas Gangele, for their prompt and effective action.
Durg Police have appealed to residents to park their vehicles in secure locations, ensure they are properly locked, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. Authorities reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against offenders.
