Mahasamund | Under Operation Nishchay, the Mahasamund Anti-Narcotics Task Force carried out three swift and coordinated operations within 24 hours, delivering a major blow to interstate marijuana trafficking networks. Acting with end-to-end precision, police successfully apprehended wholesale suppliers and buyers within six hours of intelligence inputs.
In the three separate cases registered at Singhora, Komakhan, and Bagbahara police stations, a total of 132.5 kilograms of marijuana worth approximately ₹66.25 lakh was seized. Police also confiscated six vehicles used in drug transportation, valued at around ₹55 lakh, and arrested 11 accused.
Among those arrested, five are from Madhya Pradesh, four from Maharashtra, and two from Odisha.
Interstate Coordination and Cyber Intelligence Played a Key Role
The operation was executed with strong coordination between police units from Raipur, Rajnandgaon, and Bhandara districts, enabling investigators to dismantle the entire trafficking chain swiftly. The Cyber Police Data Analytics and Intelligence Desk played a crucial role in tracking communication patterns and movement of suspects.
So far in 2026, Mahasamund police have registered 34 narcotics cases, seizing 2,285 kg of illegal marijuana worth over ₹11.42 crore, along with 35 vehicles valued at ₹1.20 crore, and arresting 93 individuals. Of these, 69 accused belong to other states, including Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan.
Case Details
Singhora Police Station
Based on a tip-off, police set up a checkpoint on National Highway-53 and intercepted two vehicles—a Swift Dzire and a Tata Indica—coming from Odisha. Officers seized 52.5 kg of marijuana, two vehicles, four mobile phones, and cash. Three accused from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, were arrested, while one suspect remains absconding. A case was registered under Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation into financial links and assets is ongoing.
Komakhan Police Station
During vehicle checking, police intercepted a Bolero SUV (OD-08-P-0321) and recovered 40 kg of marijuana valued at ₹20 lakh. Six accused were arrested, including transporters, pilot vehicle operators, and the intended buyer from Nagpur, Maharashtra. The case was registered under Sections 20(b)(2)(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Three vehicles were seized as part of the operation.
Bagbahara Police Station
Police intercepted a Hyundai Verna (MP-07-AG-8311) during a routine check and recovered 40 kg of marijuana worth ₹20 lakh. Two accused from Madhya Pradesh were arrested. A case under Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify additional links in the trafficking network.

Senior police officials stated that Mahasamund police remain committed to dismantling narcotics networks through intelligence-led policing, interstate coordination, and strict enforcement of the NDPS Act. Further legal action, including tracing financial transactions and properties linked to drug trafficking, is in progress.
