IndiGo Aircraft Aborts First Landing Attempt at Raipur Airport, Lands Safely on Second Try; Return Flight Cancelled

Raipur, India: An IndiGo aircraft arriving from Bhopal made an aborted landing attempt at Swami Vivekananda Airport on Saturday afternoon, triggering brief concern among passengers. The aircraft later landed safely on its second attempt, officials said.

According to airport authorities, the ATR aircraft approached the runway at around 2:50 p.m. but was unable to complete the landing due to undisclosed reasons. The pilot executed a standard go-around maneuver, keeping the aircraft airborne for a few more minutes before making a successful and safe landing.

A senior police official confirmed that the maneuver was precautionary and carried out in accordance with aviation safety protocols. No injuries or technical damage were reported.

However, following the incident, the scheduled return flight from Raipur to Bhopal was canceled, airport officials said, without providing further details on the reason for the cancellation.

A passenger on board described the moment of uncertainty, saying the aircraft briefly touched the ground before taking off again, which caused temporary anxiety among travelers. “There was some concern for a short while, but everything was normal once the plane landed safely,” the passenger said.

Airport authorities emphasized that passenger safety was never compromised and that such maneuvers are part of standard operational procedures when landing conditions are not optimal.
