New Delhi/Seoul – : India and the Republic of Korea (RoK) held the 6th India–RoK Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue (FPSD), reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership and expanding cooperation across political, economic, defence, and regional domains.
The dialogue was co-chaired by P. Kumaran, Secretary (East) in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Park Yoon-joo, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
Comprehensive Review of Bilateral Relations
The high-level talks provided an opportunity for both sides to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral ties, covering:
- Political and diplomatic engagement
- Economic and commercial cooperation
- Defence and security collaboration
- Science and technology partnerships
- Cultural, educational, and people-to-people exchanges
Both delegations welcomed the steady progress in bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of sustained high-level exchanges to maintain momentum in the partnership.
Economic, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation
India and South Korea reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic engagement, including trade, investment, and industrial collaboration. Discussions also focused on emerging areas such as innovation, advanced and critical technologies, digital cooperation, and research and development, reflecting the evolving nature of the partnership.
The two sides highlighted the role of institutional mechanisms in facilitating collaboration between governments, industries, and research institutions.
Defence and Security Dialogue
Security and defence cooperation featured prominently during the discussions. Both countries underscored the importance of continued coordination and dialogue to enhance mutual trust and interoperability.
The delegations acknowledged that closer defence cooperation contributes not only to bilateral security but also to regional stability, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Regional and Global Issues
India and South Korea exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, reflecting growing convergence on geopolitical and economic issues. Both sides agreed to maintain close consultations in multilateral and regional forums and to work together in addressing shared global challenges.
They also emphasized the importance of upholding international law, promoting stability, and supporting an open and inclusive regional order.

The dialogue concluded with a shared resolve to further elevate the India–RoK Special Strategic Partnership by expanding cooperation across diverse sectors and strengthening institutional frameworks for long-term engagement.
