New Delhi: Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) marked a landmark day at its Gorakhpur Fertilizer Plant with the inauguration of an Open Gym and Sports Ground and the commissioning of an Electronic In-Motion Weighbridge (EIMWB) under the PM Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal framework.
The twin initiatives reflect HURL’s balanced focus on employee well-being and infrastructure modernization. The facilities were inaugurated by HURL’s Managing Director, Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, in the presence of the Plant Head and senior officials from Indian Railways and HURL.
The newly inaugurated Open Gym and Sports Ground underscore the company’s commitment to promoting health, fitness, and team spirit among employees. The initiative is aimed at fostering a vibrant workplace culture, reinforcing HURL’s belief that a healthy workforce is the foundation of a strong and resilient organization.
At the same time, the commissioning of the Electronic In-Motion Weighbridge represents a significant step toward operational modernization. The EIMWB will enable accurate, wagon-wise weighment during rake movement, improving transparency, regulatory compliance, and efficiency in rail logistics operations. The system aligns with the broader national vision of seamless, multi-modal logistics under PM Gati Shakti.
During his visit, the Managing Director also conducted a comprehensive review of key process units, utilities, and infrastructure across the plant. The review focused on plant performance, production targets, energy efficiency, safety compliance, and maintenance practices. Dr. Mohanty emphasized the importance of proactive maintenance, innovation, teamwork, and data-driven decision-making, while calling for stronger inter-departmental coordination to ensure sustained growth.
The visit concluded with a detailed review meeting, during which actionable strategies were outlined to further enhance operational excellence.
Overall, the day highlighted HURL’s integrated approach to growth—strengthening both its people and processes to support long-term, sustainable development at its Gorakhpur facility.
