Howrah — Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has announced an opening for the position of Medical Officer on a contract basis at its facility in Howrah. Position Overview
The recruitment is for one unreserved vacancy for the role of Medical Officer. The selected candidate will be appointed on a contract basis for an initial period of five years, which may be extended depending on performance and organizational needs.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Applicants must possess an MBBS degree or equivalent from a recognized university. Additionally, candidates must be registered with the Medical Council of India or a State Medical Council. Proficiency in Bengali is also required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of post-internship clinical experience is mandatory. Experience in government hospitals, public sector undertakings (PSUs), Armed Forces medical services, ESI institutions, or private hospitals will be considered valid.
Candidates with experience in industrial or occupational health, emergency medicine, women’s healthcare, or medical audits and claims verification will be given preference.
Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 64 years as of April 13, 2026.
Job Responsibilities
The selected Medical Officer will handle a wide range of healthcare duties, including:
- Providing outpatient consultations and treatment for employees and their dependents
- Delivering emergency care and first aid during workplace incidents
- Conducting pre-employment and periodic medical examinations
- Issuing medical fitness and health certificates
- Maintaining health records and monitoring occupational health standards
- Reviewing hospital bills and verifying medical claims
- Promoting health awareness programs and offering advisory services
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a monthly consolidated salary of ₹75,000 during the first year, along with annual increments as per company policy. Additional benefits include:
- Contributory Provident Fund (CPF)
- Medical and accident insurance coverage
- Reimbursement of medical expenses
Candidates with higher or more relevant experience may be offered enhanced compensation.
Selection Process
The selection will be based solely on a personal interview, which carries a total of 100 marks.
