French President Emmanuel Macron Arrives in India for AI Impact Summit, Set to Hold Talks with PM Narendra Modi


Mumbai, India: Emmanuel Macron arrived in India early Tuesday morning for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between India and France. The French leader will participate in the AI Impact Summit and hold high-level bilateral talks with Narendra Modi in Mumbai.

Upon his arrival at Mumbai airport, President Macron was accorded a warm welcome by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar were also present at the reception.

Welcoming the French President, Fadnavis posted on social media, saying, “Bienvenue à Mumbai! A very warm welcome to the President of France, H.E. Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. Maharashtra welcomes you and wishes the French delegation a pleasant and successful visit.”

This marks President Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first official visit to Mumbai. During his stay, Macron is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi later today, where the two leaders will review progress in the India–France strategic partnership and explore avenues for expanding cooperation into new and emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence, digital technology, and innovation.

Ahead of his departure for India, President Macron said the visit would focus on deepening bilateral ties and broadening collaboration across economic, industrial, cultural, and digital domains. He also noted that senior business leaders and representatives from key sectors are accompanying him on the visit.

The French President is in India from February 17 to 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to attend the AI Impact Summit, hosted by India, and to hold bilateral engagements in Mumbai.

Later on Tuesday, Macron and Modi will participate in official meetings in South Mumbai, inaugurate the India–France Year of Innovation 2026, and address a gathering of business leaders, start-up founders, researchers, and innovators from both countries.

Both leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, further underscoring the growing depth of the India–France strategic relationship.
