Chhattisgarh’s Cities to Get a New Look Under ‘Mukhyamantri Nagarothan Yojana’ – 26 Iconic Projects Worth ₹429.45 Crore Approved

The Chhattisgarh Government has initiated major urban development under the newly launched Mukhyamantri Nagarothan Yojana, aiming to transform cities into modern, beautiful and livable spaces. In the first phase, the scheme has been implemented across 14 municipal corporations, and so far 26 iconic infrastructure projects worth ₹429.45 crore have been approved in 13 cities.

These include large-scale works such as Marine Drive extension, Oxyzone-cum-Sports Complex, Inter-State Bus Terminal, Hi-Tech Bus Stand, auditorium, beautification of lakes, road widening and bypass roads, Gaurav Path construction, drinking water strengthening, and corridor development. A total budget of ₹500 crore has been allocated for financial year 2025–26. Work orders have already been issued for five approved projects and foundation stone ceremonies have been conducted for five others.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the scheme would play a historic role in reshaping Chhattisgarh’s urban landscape.

“The plan has been designed keeping in mind sustainable urban development and citizen-centric solutions. It will significantly modernize and beautify the cities of the state,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Arun Sao emphasized that the scheme aims to promote ease of living.

“Iconic works will be taken up which can become benchmarks for urban development. It will be implemented in all urban bodies in a phased manner,” he added.


Key Features of Mukhyamantri Nagarothan Yojana

The scheme focuses on the development of urban infrastructure, including:

  • Major road construction and widening
  • Bypass roads, flyovers, service lanes and underpasses
  • Integrated drinking water supply and sewerage network
  • Solid waste management system
  • Sports complexes and hi-tech bus stands
  • Grand gardens and river-front development
  • Beautification of tourism destinations and lakes

Each district will monitor project progress through a committee headed by the Collector to ensure quality and timely completion.
