Two people died in a tragic road accident near Singhanpuri on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway.
KAWARDHA: A major road accident occurred in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district on Monday night when a motorcycle collided with a chemical tanker near Singhanpuri village on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway. Two youths riding the motorcycle died at the spot.
According to preliminary information, the two men were residents of the Mudghusri forest area and were travelling from Kawardha towards Bodla when the accident occurred.
Bike Hit Cattle Before Colliding With Tanker
Police said the motorcycle reportedly collided with cattle sitting on the road near Singhanpuri. The impact caused the motorcycle to go out of control, after which it collided with an oncoming chemical tanker.
The collision was reportedly so severe that both motorcycle riders suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
One Victim Identified
One of the deceased has been identified as Pintu Patel, a resident of Mudghusri. The identity of the second victim has not yet been established.
Police are making efforts to identify the deceased and inform his family.
Police Begin Investigation
After receiving information about the accident, police reached the spot and conducted an initial inspection. The bodies were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police are also investigating reports that the tanker driver fled the scene after the accident. Efforts are underway to locate the driver.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and speaking with eyewitnesses to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.
The incident has once again raised concerns about cattle wandering onto highways, particularly at night, and the resulting risks for motorists.
