The new KIMS Fertility IVF Centre will offer IVF, ICSI, IUI, fertility preservation, advanced embryology and other reproductive healthcare services.
VISAKHAPATNAM, ANDHRA PRADESH: KIMS Hospitals has launched a new KIMS Fertility IVF Centre in MVP Colony, Visakhapatnam, aimed at providing advanced fertility and reproductive healthcare services to couples across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The centre was inaugurated on Sunday by MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao. It is the fifth fertility centre operated by KIMS Hospitals across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rao said the launch of an internationally equipped fertility centre in Visakhapatnam was a significant development for the region, as advanced fertility services had previously been concentrated largely in major metropolitan cities. He encouraged couples facing infertility-related challenges to make use of the specialised services available at the centre.
Focus on advanced fertility care
Dr. Swetha Bollineni, Medical Director of KIMS Fertility IVF Centre, highlighted the changing demographic situation in Andhra Pradesh and said the state’s fertility rate has fallen below the replacement level of 2.1.
She said the decline could create long-term concerns related to an ageing population and a shrinking working-age population. According to her, the centre aims to support couples through advanced reproductive care, fertility preservation and informed reproductive choices.
Dr. Bollineni said the facility is also aligned with the broader vision of promoting a healthier and more prosperous population in Andhra Pradesh.
Personalised treatment approach
KIMS Hospitals Chief Operating Officer Sudhakar Jadhav said infertility treatment cannot follow a one-size-fits-all approach because every couple has different medical circumstances.
He emphasised the importance of comprehensive medical evaluation and personalised treatment plans to improve outcomes. The new centre, he said, aims to combine advanced technology with compassionate care and individual attention.
Senior Consultant and Fertility Specialist Dr. Jyotsna said infertility can have different causes and requires customised management. Treatment recommendations are made after assessing factors including the woman’s age, ovarian reserve, semen quality, previous medical history and associated health conditions.
IVF, ICSI and advanced embryology facilities
The new centre offers a range of fertility treatments and reproductive services, including:
- In-vitro fertilisation (IVF)
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
- Fertility preservation
- Advanced embryology
- Reproductive surgery
- Male and female infertility management
The centre has a modern embryology laboratory equipped with advanced embryo culture, vitrification and cryopreservation facilities.
For eligible patients, the centre will also provide embryo biopsy services for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
Comprehensive reproductive healthcare
According to Dr. Jyotsna, the centre will provide treatment and management for a range of reproductive health concerns, including female and male infertility, diminished ovarian reserve, recurrent pregnancy loss and fertility preservation.
The facility is intended to make advanced fertility services available closer to home for people in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, potentially reducing the need for couples to travel to major metropolitan centres for specialised reproductive care.
Several medical professionals and dignitaries attended the inauguration, including Visakhapatnam Board Director B. Advik, Dr. R. Geetha Vandana, MD (ObG), and KIMS Hospital doctors, including Fertility Consultant Dr. Deepti.
