New Delhi, India | India’s political battle over the country’s education system intensified after Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Speaking amid ongoing protests over the alleged NEET examination paper leak and other alleged examination irregularities, Rahul Gandhi accused Pradhan of becoming a symbol of corruption and what he described as India’s “broken education system.”
According to Gandhi, the former minister’s resignation was not an act of morality but the result of mounting public anger from students and young people across the country.
“Dharmendra Pradhan is and will always remain a symbol of corruption and India’s ruined education system,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on social media platform X.
He further alleged that the education system had cost the lives of 26 students and forced millions of young people to protest on the streets.

Rahul Gandhi also criticized BJP lawmakers for warmly welcoming Pradhan in Parliament after his resignation.
He said the gesture was not an honor, but rather “a celebration of the destruction of the future of millions of children.”

Fresh Allegations Over Action Against Student Protesters
In another post on X, Rahul Gandhi accused the government of using excessive force against students protesting in different parts of the country.
Referring to reports from Bihar, he claimed that student demonstrators faced severe police action and alleged that hundreds had been arrested and criminal cases registered against them.
Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking why previously stated assurances that no FIRs would be filed against protesting students and that they would be released had not been fulfilled.
He also alleged that students had faced harsh action in multiple states, including Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, accusing the government of attempting to suppress their voices instead of addressing their concerns.
