Adani Group Commits to Build 2,000-Bed Super-Specialty Hospital in West Bengal, Half the Capacity Reserved for Free Treatment

Kolkata, India: In a major boost to West Bengal’s healthcare infrastructure, the Adani Group has announced plans to establish a 2,000-bed state-of-the-art hospital in New Town, Kolkata. The project is expected to become one of the largest private healthcare facilities in eastern India, significantly expanding access to advanced medical services.

According to the announcement made on Saturday, the Adani Group has submitted a written commitment to develop the modern hospital. A key feature of the project is its inclusive healthcare model, under which 1,000 beds (50% of the total capacity) will be reserved for free treatment of economically disadvantaged patients, while the remaining 1,000 beds will operate on a commercial basis.

The announcement was made while the state’s leadership highlighted the major development initiatives undertaken in West Bengal over the past two months. The proposed hospital is expected to strengthen the region’s healthcare ecosystem by providing advanced medical care, specialized treatment, and high-quality clinical services.

The planned facility is likely to include cutting-edge medical technology, specialty and super-specialty departments, critical care units, emergency and trauma services, advanced diagnostic facilities, and modern patient-care infrastructure. Once completed, it is is expected to serve patients not only from West Bengal but also from neighboring states and eastern India.

The initiative also reflects the Adani Group’s commitment to social responsibility through the Adani Foundation, which has been involved in projects related to healthcare, education, rural development, and community welfare across India.

The proposed hospital is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, medical professionals, paramedics, and support staff, while also contributing to the state’s growing healthcare and medical education ecosystem.

Further details regarding the project cost, construction timeline, and operational schedule are expected to be announced after the necessary approvals and planning processes are completed.

The project marks another significant investment in West Bengal’s healthcare sector, with a strong emphasis on balancing accessible medical care for underprivileged communities and world-class commercial healthcare services.
