Police Recreate Crime Scene in Ketan Agrawal Murder Investigation; Fiancée and Co-Accused Taken to Fort

PUNE, India — Investigators have recreated the alleged crime scene in the high-profile Ketan Agrawal murder case, taking the two main accused—Sia Goyal, the victim’s fiancée, and her friend Chetan Chaudhary—to Lohagad Fort in Maharashtra as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to Pune Rural Police, the reconstruction was carried out on Sunday at the exact location where Ketan Agrawal is alleged to have been pushed off a cliff, resulting in his death. The exercise was conducted to verify the sequence of events and compare the suspects’ statements with the physical evidence.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said investigators recreated the entire incident, including the route taken by the accused, their positions at the scene, and the specific actions allegedly carried out before the fatal fall. Police stated that both accused provided detailed explanations during the reconstruction.

To further test the suspects’ claims, investigators used a life-sized dummy matching the victim’s weight. The dummy was utilized to determine whether the accused’s version of events aligned with the physical characteristics of the cliff and the surrounding terrain. Authorities are continuing to examine the exact cause of death and the alleged role played by each suspect.

In a related development, Lonavala Rural Police have seized the motorcycle allegedly used by Chetan Chaudhary to travel from Pune to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident. Investigators also recovered a hoodie and headphones reportedly worn by the accused during the trip.

Police confirmed that the seized motorcycle, clothing, and other evidence have been sent for forensic examination to determine whether they contain material evidence linked to the alleged crime.

Earlier, the parents of the primary accused, Sia Goyal, appeared at the Lonavala Police Station for questioning as investigators continued to gather evidence in the case.

The investigation stems from the death of Ketan Agrawal, who fell from Lohagad Fort on June 18 near Pune. Police later registered a murder case, alleging that the fall may have been intentional rather than accidental.

According to investigators, they suspect that Sia Goyal was reluctant to marry at this stage of her life and was allegedly facing family pressure to proceed with her engagement to Ketan Agrawal. Police are examining whether this motive played a role in the alleged killing.

Sia Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23 and remain in police custody until June 29 as the investigation continues.

The case has drawn widespread public attention across India. In response, the Maharashtra government has approved the establishment of a fast-track court to ensure a speedy trial. Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor to represent the state in the case.

The decision followed a meeting between Ketan Agrawal’s father and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during which the family requested swift justice. The Chief Minister assured the family that the investigation would be pursued thoroughly and that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible.

Police officials have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and all allegations against the accused will ultimately be determined through the judicial process based on the evidence presented in court.
