New Delhi : In a significant move to strengthen leadership development and organizational effectiveness in India’s public sector, the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) has partnered with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), USA, to launch a landmark study titled “State of Coaching in Indian Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).”
This first-of-its-kind initiative aims to evaluate the current coaching landscape across Indian PSEs and develop a customized, evidence-based coaching framework tailored to the sector’s unique needs.
A Strategic Push for Leadership Excellence
The study is designed to help Public Sector Enterprises embed structured coaching practices into their leadership and talent development strategies. By leveraging SCOPE’s extensive reach across government-owned enterprises and ICF’s global expertise in professional coaching standards, the collaboration seeks to redefine how leadership is nurtured within India’s public sector.
The initiative reflects a broader push toward building agile, future-ready organizations capable of navigating complex economic and operational challenges.
Research-Driven, Evidence-Based Approach
The study will follow a comprehensive research methodology, combining both primary and secondary data collection. It will assess:
- The current adoption of coaching practices within PSEs
- Leadership development frameworks and gaps
- Measurable impact of coaching on performance and culture
- Best practices from global and domestic benchmarks
The outcome will be a strategic framework that enables organizations to systematically integrate coaching into their core operations, while also building internal coaching capabilities.
Building a Culture of Continuous Learning
A central goal of the initiative is to promote a culture of continuous learning, performance improvement, and leadership accountability. By introducing structured coaching systems, the study aims to help PSEs:
- Strengthen leadership pipelines
- Improve employee engagement and productivity
- Align leadership growth with long-term business outcomes
- Foster innovation and adaptability within organizations
A Milestone for India’s Public Sector Transformation
This collaboration marks a major milestone in the evolution of India’s public sector enterprises, which play a critical role in the country’s economic development. By focusing on leadership excellence and organizational culture, the SCOPE–ICF initiative is expected to drive sustainable growth and improved governance standards across PSEs.
Looking Ahead
As Indian PSEs face increasing pressure to modernize and compete in a rapidly changing global environment, the introduction of a structured coaching ecosystem could prove transformative. The findings of the study are expected to serve as a roadmap for integrating coaching into leadership development, ultimately helping public sector organizations become more resilient, efficient, and future-ready.
