New Delhi, India : India’s top public-sector headhunting body, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), has recommended Vivek Nishant Nath for the position of Director (Commercial) at NMDC Limited, the country’s largest iron ore producer.
The selection meeting was held on April 25, 2026, beginning at 9:45 AM, where a total of eleven senior executives from leading public sector enterprises were interviewed. After a comprehensive evaluation process, the board selected Nath, who currently serves as Chief General Manager (Sales and Marketing) at Odisha Mining Corporation Limited.
NMDC Limited, a Schedule A public sector undertaking under India’s Ministry of Steel, plays a central role in the country’s mining sector, with major operations in the mineral-rich states of Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. The company also operates a significant steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh.
The Director (Commercial) position is a key leadership role within NMDC, responsible for overseeing sales, marketing, material management, and shaping the company’s overall commercial strategy. The role directly impacts revenue generation, customer engagement, and market positioning in India’s competitive mining and metals sector.

The PESB’s recommendation will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. Only after this clearance will the appointment be formally confirmed.
This leadership transition is part of NMDC’s ongoing succession planning and comes at a time when the company continues to expand its mining output and strengthen its downstream steel operations. The incoming Director (Commercial) will play a crucial role in aligning NMDC’s sales strategy with India’s growing demand for iron ore and steel.
