Drunk Truck Driver Fined ₹15,000 After Dangerous High-Speed Chase on Raipur–Durg Highway


Durg, Chhattisgarh |In a swift enforcement action, Durg Police traffic officials took strict action against a heavily loaded truck driver for drunken and reckless driving on the Raipur–Durg National Highway, averting a potential major accident.

According to officials, the incident occurred on February 18, 2026, when the Traffic Police Interceptor Team spotted a loaded Hyva truck (registration number CG 07 CF 6324) being driven at excessive speed in a highly dangerous manner during routine patrolling near the Supela area. The erratic driving posed a serious threat to other motorists and pedestrians on the busy highway.

Considering the gravity of the situation, the police team chased the vehicle and safely intercepted it near Nehru Nagar Gurudwara Chowk. Upon inspection, the driver was subjected to a breath analyzer test, which confirmed alcohol consumption while driving.

The traffic police registered a case under Section 185 (drunk driving) and Section 184 (dangerous and rash driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act. The vehicle was seized and produced before the court. The Honorable Court subsequently imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on the driver.

Police officials praised the alertness and prompt response of the interceptor team personnel, stating that their timely action helped prevent a possible road mishap.
