Lucknow — In a significant boost for state finances, Uttar Pradesh recorded an increase of ₹608.06 crore in revenue collection in November, even though GST rates on several items were recently reduced.
According to official figures, the state’s revenue in November of the current financial year surpassed that of the same month last year, highlighting improved tax compliance and a strengthening economic environment.
Government officials noted that the revenue rise came despite relaxation in GST slabs, which had been expected to reduce tax inflow in the short term. Authorities attributed the higher collection to effective monitoring, increased digital invoicing, and stricter action against tax evasion.
A senior state finance official commented that the improved revenue figures reflect “the success of reforms taken to simplify the tax process and promote voluntary compliance among traders.”
The state government is expected to continue its efforts to expand the tax base in the coming months while ensuring that businesses are not burdened by excessive regulations. Analysts say that if the trend continues, Uttar Pradesh could surpass its annual revenue growth targets.
