Women receive comprehensive health screenings, gynaecological consultations and induction cooktops with utensil sets during Navratri
Bilaspur : Shraddha Mahila Mandal, with the support of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), organised a special health check-up camp for women contract workers at SECL’s Pink Dispensary in Vasant Vihar, Bilaspur. A total of 104 women underwent health examinations as part of the initiative.
Shraddha Mahila Mandal president Shashi Duhan attended the programme and interacted with the participants. The initiative focused on promoting preventive healthcare, raising awareness about women’s health and recognising the contribution of women contract workers to SECL’s operations.
Comprehensive Health Screenings and Eye Examinations
The camp included a range of medical tests to assess the health of the participating women. These included liver and kidney function tests, a complete blood count (CBC) and other essential investigations. Eye examinations were also conducted to identify vision-related problems.
According to the organisers, medical reports will be reviewed after the tests are completed, and medicines will be provided wherever required. Women found to need corrective eyewear will also be provided with spectacles.
The initiative aims to help workers identify potential health concerns and access appropriate medical support.
Special Session on Women’s Health and Gynaecological Care
Following the medical examinations, SECL doctor Dr Paruli Sahu conducted a dedicated session on gynaecological health and medical counselling.
She discussed common women’s health concerns, personal hygiene, the importance of regular medical check-ups and the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Participants were encouraged to remain attentive to their health and seek timely medical advice whenever they experience symptoms or other health-related difficulties.
The session also highlighted the importance of preventive care and awareness in maintaining women’s overall well-being.
Women Contract Workers an Integral Part of the SECL Family
Addressing the gathering, Shraddha Mahila Mandal president Shashi Duhan said women contract workers were an important part of the SECL family and made a valuable contribution to the organisation’s work.
She emphasised that women often manage responsibilities at both home and the workplace, making it essential for them to prioritise their own health.
Duhan said Shraddha Mahila Mandal remained committed to initiatives promoting women’s health, dignity and welfare.
Induction Cooktops and Utensil Sets Distributed for Navratri
As part of the Navratri celebrations, Shraddha Mahila Mandal presented induction cooktops and compatible utensil sets to all 104 women contract workers.
The gifts were intended to provide useful household equipment while conveying appreciation and respect for the women’s contributions. A meal was also arranged for all participating workers at the conclusion of the programme.
Shraddha Mahila Mandal vice-presidents Hasina Kumar and Vinita Jain were also present at the event.
SECL’s Pink Dispensary Supports Women’s Healthcare
SECL’s Vasant Vihar Dispensary is described by the organisation as the first Pink Dispensary in Coal India. The facility reflects the focus on addressing women’s healthcare needs through dedicated medical support.
Shraddha Mahila Mandal regularly undertakes activities related to women’s empowerment, healthcare, education and social welfare. The health camp for 104 women contract workers is part of these ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and improve access to medical care.
Through the combination of health screenings, medical counselling and the distribution of household equipment, the programme brought together healthcare support and a welfare initiative for women working with SECL.
