Tata Group Unveils Big Plan for Uttar Pradesh: AI City to Come Up in Lucknow, 30,000 Jobs Expected

Lucknow is set to emerge as a major technology hub as the Tata Group plans to develop an AI City in the Uttar Pradesh capital. The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran in Lucknow.

The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing projects in the state and outlining Tata Group’s future investment strategy in Uttar Pradesh. Key sectors discussed included technology, manufacturing, energy, defence, and tourism, reflecting the group’s intent to deepen its presence across multiple domains.

The most significant outcome of the discussions was the proposal to establish an AI City in Lucknow. According to the plan, the AI City will function as an integrated hub for artificial intelligence startups, research centres, innovation labs, and advanced technology activities, bringing them together under one ecosystem. The project is expected to create around 30,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, especially for the youth.

The expansion of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in the state and potential investments in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor were also part of the talks. These initiatives align with the state government’s vision of positioning Uttar Pradesh as the country’s next major growth engine.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the state’s investor-friendly policies, improved infrastructure, and skilled workforce, while Tata Chairman N. Chandrasekaran expressed confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s growth potential. The Tata Group indicated its readiness to play a key role in the state’s journey towards becoming a leading hub for technology-driven development.

If implemented as planned, the AI City could significantly boost Lucknow’s profile on India’s technology map and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position in the emerging digital economy.
