Shraddha Mahila Mandal Honored with ‘Shakti Samman 2026’ for Women Empowerment Initiatives

In a significant recognition of its sustained efforts toward social development, Shraddha Mahila Mandal has been awarded the prestigious Shakti Samman 2026, presented by IBC24. The award ceremony was marked by the presence of acclaimed actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, who presented the honor to Mrs. Shashi Duhan, President of the organization.

Shraddha Mahila Mandal, an initiative driven by the women of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), has been actively working in coalfield regions since its establishment in 2006. Over the years, the organization has built a strong reputation for its grassroots-level engagement in women empowerment and community upliftment.

At the heart of its mission lies a focus on skill development and self-reliance. The Mandal conducts vocational training programs in areas such as tailoring and computer education, equipping women with practical skills that open doors to employment and entrepreneurship. To further strengthen economic independence, the organization also distributes essential resources like sewing machines, handcarts, rice mills, and e-rickshaws, enabling beneficiaries to establish sustainable livelihoods.

Education remains another cornerstone of its work. The Mandal supports children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by providing scholarships, school kits, and bicycles, helping ensure uninterrupted access to education. These initiatives aim to break cycles of poverty and create long-term opportunities for future generations.

In the healthcare sector, Shraddha Mahila Mandal extends financial assistance to individuals battling serious illnesses, including cancer, while also organizing health awareness camps in underserved communities. Additionally, the organization actively promotes environmental sustainability through plantation drives, sapling distribution, and cleanliness awareness campaigns.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Shashi Duhan expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the collective effort behind the achievement. She noted that the award serves as a motivation to continue working tirelessly toward empowering women and supporting vulnerable communities.

The Shakti Samman 2026 highlights the impactful work being carried out by Shraddha Mahila Mandal and underscores the importance of community-driven initiatives in fostering inclusive growth. Through its continued commitment to service, the organization is playing a vital role in transforming lives across coalfield regions and advancing the broader goal of social equity.
