Bijapur, Chhattisgarh:
Security forces in Maoist-affected Bijapur district achieved a major breakthrough by foiling a deadly plot planned by Maoist insurgents. During a search operation in the forest area between Bandepara and Neelamdguru, security personnel recovered 16 pressure-based Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), preventing a potential large-scale attack.
According to officials, the explosives were planted by Maoists in the Madde Police Station area, a region known for frequent insurgent activity. Along with the IEDs, security forces unearthed a Maoist dump hidden underground, from which they recovered around 100 kilograms of gelatin sticks and a large quantity of other explosive materials.
Arms, Uniforms, and Maoist Literature Seized
In addition to explosives, the security forces seized several items linked to Maoist operations, including black Maoist uniforms, gunpowder, walkie-talkie chargers, batteries, Maoist literature, and other logistical supplies. Officials said the recovered materials clearly indicate preparations for a major violent incident targeting security forces.
Big Setback for Maoists
Police officials described the operation as a significant blow to Maoist activities in the region. “The Maoists were planning a major attack in the area. The timely action by security forces has completely foiled their intentions,” a senior police officer said.
Following the recovery, intensive search and combing operations are underway across the surrounding forest areas to ensure that no additional explosives or insurgents remain hidden.
Anti-Maoist Operations Intensified
Security forces, including teams from the Madde Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have been continuously conducting anti-Maoist operations in Bijapur as part of an intensified campaign against insurgency. Officials confirmed that search operations will continue in the coming days to maintain pressure on Maoist groups and ensure the safety of civilians and security personnel.
