New Delhi: Reinforcing its commitment to community development and youth empowerment, NTPC Bongaigaon has launched the 2026 batch of Disha Classes, an educational initiative conducted under the employee-led voluntary platform e-VOICE in collaboration with the station’s CSR wing.
The program, operational since 2019, aims to prepare students from neighboring communities for state and central government competitive examinations, with a special focus on recruitment into police services and armed forces. The new academic session formally commenced on February 17, 2026, with the participation of nearly 45 students from nearby areas.
The initiative is being implemented by NTPC employee volunteers in association with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit at NTPC Bongaigaon, combining academic instruction with structured physical training.
The inaugural session was attended by Shri Anurag Gupta, General Manager (Operations & Maintenance), NTPC Bongaigaon, who emphasized the importance of discipline, punctuality, and consistency in shaping the future of aspiring youth. He also appreciated the voluntary efforts of NTPC employees who dedicate their time and expertise to mentoring students and guiding them toward meaningful career opportunities.
Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of Human Resources, NTPC Bongaigaon, highlighted NTPC’s broader vision as a responsible corporate citizen committed to inclusive growth. He noted that initiatives like Disha Classes play a vital role in nurturing local talent through education and skill development.
Addressing the students, Shri Ashish Kumar, Deputy Commandant, CISF, NTPC Bongaigaon, encouraged them to remain focused, physically fit, and mentally prepared for the rigorous demands of competitive examinations, particularly for defense and police services.
Students participating in the program expressed gratitude to NTPC Bongaigaon management and employee volunteers for providing a valuable platform to pursue their career aspirations and contribute positively to society.
Under the Disha Classes initiative, e-VOICE members provide academic coaching, while CISF personnel support physical training. Over the past seven years, more than 21 local youth have secured employment in various state and central armed forces through this program, underscoring its impact on community empowerment.
Through initiatives like Disha Classes, NTPC continues to strengthen its engagement with local communities and contribute to building a confident, skilled, and future-ready generation.
