Mungeli । Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Shri Bhojram Patel (IPS), Mungeli Police have taken another significant step towards building a safe, aware, and drug-free society through the special community policing campaign “Pahal.” The initiative, which has been running continuously for the past one year, is now emerging as a mass movement across the district.
A special sensitization and awareness program was organized today at the District Panchayat Conference Hall, Mungeli, where elected representatives, senior administrative officers, and police officials came together on a common platform to reaffirm their commitment to social reform and public safety.
The program was held under the chief guestship of SP Shri Bhojram Patel (IPS) and chaired by District Panchayat CEO Shri Prabhakar Pandey. Prominent attendees included District Panchayat President Shri Shrikant Pandey, Vice President Smt. Rajni Devcharan Bhaskar, members of the District Panchayat, Janpad Panchayat President Shri Ramkamal Singh, departmental heads, and other public representatives.
Focus on Drug De-addiction, Cyber Safety and Road Safety
The core objective of the meeting was to utilize the influence of public representatives to ensure that awareness messages related to cyber crime prevention, traffic safety, and drug de-addiction reach the last person in society. Mungeli Police emphasized that elected representatives are a strong bridge between administration and citizens, and their participation will help take the “Pahal” campaign to every village and household.
SP Bhojram Patel stated that Mungeli Police are not limited to crime control alone but are actively working to address the root causes of crime, particularly drug abuse. Through continuous outreach in schools, colleges, and public places, police teams are engaging directly with children, youth, women, and citizens to spread awareness and build trust.
Three Key Areas Highlighted
During the program, special emphasis was laid on the following three critical issues:
- Cyber Fraud Awareness:
In the digital era, citizens were advised on the responsible use of mobile phones and online platforms. Police officials informed that in case of any cyber fraud, immediate reporting on the National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 can help in freezing the fraudulent transaction and recovering money. - Traffic Safety:
Citizens were urged to strictly follow traffic rules, wear helmets, and avoid unsafe travel in pickup and goods vehicles, especially for women and children. Strong instructions were also given not to allow minors to drive vehicles. Police highlighted that compared to 2024, Mungeli district has successfully reduced road accident fatalities due to continuous traffic awareness efforts. - Drug De-addiction:
Continuous campaigns are being conducted in schools and colleges to motivate youth to stay away from drugs. Police officers explained that substance abuse not only harms health but also fuels crime and social instability.
Public Representatives Take Pledge
During the interaction, police officials elaborated on the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of road discipline and cyber awareness. Public representatives appreciated the vision and leadership of SP Bhojram Patel and assured full cooperation in running the “Pahal” campaign actively in their respective areas.
A collective pledge was taken by elected representatives and departmental heads to:
- Protect citizens from cyber fraud,
- Promote traffic awareness to reduce accidents,
- Encourage families, youth, and children to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Towards a Safer and Responsible Society
SP Bhojram Patel appealed to citizens, stating that coordination between police and the public is the foundation of a safe society. Through the “Pahal” initiative, Mungeli Police aim to make every citizen responsible, aware, and participative in maintaining law, order, and social harmony.
The discussion held at the District Panchayat is expected to prove a milestone in strengthening community policing, improving public awareness, and ensuring long-term social reform in Mungeli district.
