Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh:
Police have solved the murder case of a 21-year-old woman whose semi-nude body was found in a muddy agricultural field in Pipra village under Nawagarh police station limits. Investigations revealed that the crime was committed by her lover, who allegedly killed her by pressing her face into the mud.
The accused was arrested by the police from the Patna police station area in neighboring Korea district.
The incident had created panic in the village after the body of the young woman was discovered early in the morning. According to police sources, the victim was last seen leaving her house around 4 a.m. The body was later found lying in the middle of a field, covered in mud.
Upon receiving information, Nawagarh police immediately reached the spot along with a forensic team and began an investigation. Initial suspicion by the family pointed towards sexual assault followed by murder, as the body was found in a semi-nude condition.
The deceased has been identified as Pooja Mahant, daughter of Vishambhar Das, aged 21, a resident of Pipra village, Nawagarh.
During interrogation, police established that the accused had a personal relationship with the victim. Following a dispute, he allegedly murdered her and attempted to dispose of the body in the muddy field to mislead investigators.
Police officials stated that further legal action is underway, and the accused will be produced before the court. The case has sent shockwaves across the region, raising serious concerns about women’s safety.
