Indian Embassy Urges Nationals in Iran to Stay Indoors Amid US–Israel Strikes

New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a safety advisory urging Indian nationals in Iran to remain indoors and exercise extreme caution following escalating tensions in the region after joint military strikes by Israel and the United States.

In an official statement shared on X on Saturday, the embassy said, “In view of the developing situation, all Indian nationals in Iran are advised to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movements, and remain indoors as far as possible.”

The advisory also asked Indian citizens to closely monitor local news, stay socially aware of their surroundings, and await further instructions from the Embassy.

The warning comes after Israel carried out what it described as a pre-emptive military strike against Iran, sharply escalating regional tensions. Shortly after the strikes, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States had begun “major combat operations in Iran” and called on the Iranian people to take over their government. Trump termed the attacks a “noble mission,” claiming they were necessary due to Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons and long-range missile capabilities.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Qatar also released a precautionary advisory for Indian nationals living in Qatar, asking them to remain vigilant amid the unfolding regional situation.

“In view of the current regional situation, all Indian nationals in Qatar are advised to take due care and follow news and advisories issued by the Embassy and local authorities,” the mission said. The embassy confirmed it is functioning normally and shared its 24/7 helpline number, 00974-55647502, along with the contact email cons.doha@mea.gov.in for assistance.

Indian authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East intensify.
