India Post Releases Picture Postcards Featuring Five Major Waterfalls of Chhattisgarh

The initiative highlights the state’s natural heritage during National Postal Week, as officials underline the continued relevance of postal services in the digital era.

RAIPUR : The Department of Posts has released a series of picture postcards featuring five prominent waterfalls of Chhattisgarh to promote the state’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The postcards showcase Mandwa, Lankapalli, Chitrakote, Tamda Ghumar and Tirathgarh waterfalls. They were released in Raipur as part of National Postal Week celebrations marking World Post Day and Philately Day.

The programme also featured an interaction with media representatives, during which postal officials discussed the role of India Post in connecting people and businesses amid the rapid growth of digital communication.

Those present included Pranav Kumar, Chief Postmaster General of the Chhattisgarh Postal Circle; Subodh Prakash Singh, Director of Postal Services; and Neeru, Director of Postal Accounts.

World Post Day Highlights the Global Postal Network

Addressing the media, Chief Postmaster General Pranav Kumar explained that World Post Day is observed every year on October 9 to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874.

The occasion aims to raise awareness of the role postal services play in the daily lives of individuals and businesses, as well as in global social and economic development.

This year’s theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” highlights the reach and potential of an integrated postal network.

Postal Services Remain Relevant in the Digital Age

Kumar noted that artificial intelligence, WhatsApp and other digital communication platforms have significantly changed how people exchange information. However, he emphasised that postal services continue to have an important place in society.

Letter writing, he said, remains more than a means of conveying information. It also provides a way to express emotions, share thoughts and maintain personal connections.

With its extensive reach, India Post continues to connect people and provide communication services to different sections of society.

National Postal Week Activities Across Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh Postal Circle is organising theme-based programmes at divisional offices across the state during National Postal Week.

These activities aim to familiarise citizens with the department’s services and facilities while increasing public awareness of the role of postal networks in everyday life.

The initiative also provides an opportunity to highlight how India Post continues to adapt to changing communication needs while maintaining its broad public-service reach.

Picture Postcards Promote Chhattisgarh’s Natural Heritage

The release of postcards featuring Mandwa, Lankapalli, Chitrakote, Tamda Ghumar and Tirathgarh waterfalls is intended to bring greater recognition to Chhattisgarh’s natural attractions.

Philately — the collection and study of postage stamps and related postal materials — offers a way to preserve and promote historical, cultural and natural heritage.

Through these postcards, India Post is combining its traditional role in communication with efforts to showcase the state’s distinctive landscapes.

The National Postal Week celebrations underline the department’s continued commitment to public service, wider connectivity and its evolving role in an increasingly digital world.
