Illegal Scrap Seized in MCB: Five Accused Arrested for Theft from Coal Mine Area


MCB, Chhattisgarh: Police in the Jhagarkhand police station area of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district carried out a major crackdown on illegal scrap trade and seized a pickup vehicle loaded with stolen iron scrap. Five accused involved in the illegal activity have been arrested.

According to police officials, the action was taken based on a tip-off from an informant that stolen iron scrap from the Haldibadi coal mine area was being transported toward Manendragarh city in a pickup vehicle. Acting quickly on the information, the police set up a blockade and intercepted the suspicious vehicle.

During the inspection, a large quantity of iron scrap was found loaded in the pickup. The people traveling in the vehicle failed to produce any valid documents related to the scrap material. Following this, police detained the five individuals and questioned them.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had allegedly stolen the iron scrap from the Haldibadi mining area and were transporting it illegally to Manendragarh for sale. The police immediately seized the pickup vehicle along with the scrap.

Station in-charge Ramnayan Gupta said the operation was carried out on the basis of a credible informant’s tip and warned that strict action will continue against those involved in illegal scrap trading in the region.

Police have registered a case against all five accused under relevant legal sections. They were produced before the court and have been sent to judicial remand.
