Chhattisgarh Assembly’s Budget Session Begins Today; Governor’s Address and Economic Survey to Be Tabled


Raipur: The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly began today, February 23. Proceedings started at 11 a.m. The House first paid tribute to the late Deendayal Singh Porte, a former member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Following the condolence, the Governor delivered the customary address to the Assembly, after which a motion of thanks will be moved. Chhattisgarh’s Finance Minister, OP Chaudhary, will table the state’s Economic Survey for 2025–26. The Speaker will also announce the panel of presiding officers.

State Budget to Be Presented on February 24

The Chhattisgarh state budget will be presented on February 24. Finance Minister OP Chaudhary is scheduled to present the budget estimates for the financial year 2026–27 in the House at 12:30 p.m. A general discussion on the budget will be held on February 25, 26, and 27.

Session to Continue Until March 20

The eighth budget session of the Sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will run from February 23 to March 20, with a total of 15 sittings planned. After the sittings on February 25–27, the Assembly will not meet from February 28 to March 8.

There will be no sittings on February 28 (Saturday), March 1 (Sunday), March 2 (Monday), March 3 (Holika Dahan), March 4 (Holi), and March 5–6. The session will resume on March 9.

The budget session is expected to see detailed discussions on the state government’s economic priorities, development agenda, and fiscal roadmap for the coming year.
