The closure report stated that there was no evidence of illegal confinement or abetment of suicide against Rhea who had lived with Sushant until just days before his death.
he drama surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput and his death is far from over. On Thursday, the late actor’s family announced they will challenge the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) closure report which had cleared his ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of all charges. Calling the report “nothing but an eyewash”, the family said they believe the investigation is far from complete.
Sushant’s father, brother, and legal team expressed strong disagreement with the agency’s findings. Their lawyer, Varun Singh, told Hindustan Times, “If the CBI truly wanted to uncover the facts, they would have included all supporting documents; chats, technical records, witness statements, medical reports in the closure report. None of this has been done. This report is based on a shoddy investigation, and we will file a protest petition in court.”
The closure report stated that there was no evidence of illegal confinement or abetment of suicide against Rhea. She had lived with Sushant until just days before his death. However, the actor’s family strongly rejected this conclusion insisting the matter deserves further scrutiny.
Sushant Singh Rajput, a Bollywood actor known for films like ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ and ‘Chhichhore’, was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. He was just 34. Initial investigations suggested suicide. This led to intense media trial and multiple agency probes.
Rhea Chakraborty who was arrested on charges related to alleged abetment of suicide, drug use, and financial irregularities spent several weeks in jail. She and her brother Showik faced relentless media coverage and legal battles. However in recent months, all charges against both of them have been dropped.
Despite the closure, Sushant’s family insists the truth around the death has not fully emerged. They argue that key pieces of evidence were overlooked.
