New Delhi : Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has strengthened its strategic collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) to support India’s next generation of indigenous combat aircraft programs, including the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
ADA is the nodal agency under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the development of India’s indigenous fighter aircraft platforms.
New Mandates for Advanced Combat Aircraft
Building on its successful delivery of Compact Heat Exchangers for the LCA Tejas Mk1, Mk1A, and Mk2 variants, BHEL has now received fresh project sanction orders from ADA for critical systems in upcoming defense aircraft.
Under the expanded partnership, BHEL will undertake:
- Development of advanced Pump Modules for the Liquid Cooling System (LCS), a vital component of the Environmental Control System (ECS) for both LCA Mk2 and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
- Supply of Compact Heat Exchangers and Fuel Coolers specifically designed for the AMCA program.
These systems are essential for maintaining optimal thermal management and operational efficiency in high-performance combat aircraft.
Boost to Indigenous Defense Manufacturing
The expanded collaboration highlights BHEL’s growing role in India’s defense aerospace ecosystem and reinforces the government’s push for indigenous design, development, and manufacturing of critical defense technologies.
The partnership also reflects confidence in BHEL’s engineering capabilities and its ability to deliver high-precision, mission-critical systems for advanced military platforms.
