Kolkata, July 2026: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) has appointed Anupam Misra as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), marking a significant leadership transition for India’s only vertically integrated public sector copper producer. Anupam Misra brings an impressive combination of academic excellence and industry expertise to his new role.
He earned a B.Tech. (Honours) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and later completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM Lucknow. To further strengthen his leadership capabilities, he also attended advanced executive management programs at IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta.
His strong educational foundation, combined with decades of executive leadership, has earned him recognition as an experienced public sector administrator.
Leadership Experience at FACT
Before joining Hindustan Copper Limited, Misra served as Director (Marketing) at Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) from July 2020 to June 2026.
During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening the company’s marketing strategy, expanding business opportunities, and enhancing operational performance. He also held the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of FACT, providing him with valuable experience in managing one of India’s leading public sector enterprises.
His leadership at FACT demonstrated strong capabilities in corporate governance, strategic planning, business development, and organizational management.

Soon after officially assuming office at the company’s corporate headquarters, Misra initiated a series of high-level review meetings to assess Hindustan Copper’s operational performance and future growth plans.
He met with the company’s Functional Directors, senior corporate executives, and department heads, while also conducting virtual discussions with Unit Heads from mining and operational locations across the country.
