Internet Ticketing Remains a Major Profit Contributor
While Catering recorded the strongest revenue growth among IRCTC’s major segments, Internet Ticketing continued to be an important contributor to the company’s profitability.
The strong performance of Catering and Tourism helped support IRCTC’s overall revenue growth during the quarter. At the same time, higher expenses limited the impact of the top-line expansion on the company’s bottom line.
Consolidated Performance
IRCTC’s consolidated financial performance remained broadly aligned with its standalone results.
Consolidated profit before tax stood at approximately ₹441.68 crore, while consolidated net profit remained close to the standalone figure.
The results indicate that IRCTC maintained stable profitability despite a significant increase in operating revenue and expenses during the quarter.
Auditors’ Review
The company’s Statutory Auditors have issued a Limited Review Report with an unmodified conclusion on the financial results.
The report, however, includes an emphasis of matter relating to certain sub-judice matters concerning license fee and GST claims.
Overall Performance
IRCTC’s Q1 FY27 results reflect a mixed performance, with strong revenue growth but largely flat profitability.
The 18.1% increase in revenue from operations was supported particularly by the strong performance of the Catering and Tourism businesses. However, the 28.4% increase in total expenses resulted in limited growth at the profit level.
With revenue crossing ₹1,369 crore in the first quarter and Catering delivering double-digit growth, IRCTC continues to maintain a strong position across its railway catering, tourism, internet ticketing and Rail Neer businesses.
The company’s stable net profit of nearly ₹330 crore despite higher expenses highlights the resilience of its overall business model during the quarter.
