Hyderabad: Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence–powered feature called Photoshoot within its free marketing platform Pomelli, aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses create professional, studio-quality product images without the need for costly photography services.
Announced by Google Labs, the Photoshoot feature uses Google’s Gemini Nano Banana technology to transform ordinary product photos into polished, on-brand visuals suitable for websites, social media, and digital advertising.
Google said the tool addresses one of the biggest challenges faced by small businesses — the expense and complexity of professional photography. From handmade jewelry and artisanal food products to fitness and wellness services, businesses can now generate high-quality images without hiring photographers or renting studio space.
How Photoshoot Works
To use Photoshoot, businesses upload a product image to Pomelli and choose from a selection of pre-built templates, including Studio and Lifestyle formats. The AI then applies the brand’s existing visual style to generate a refined image. Users can further edit the visuals before downloading them or saving them to Pomelli’s Business DNA library for future campaigns.
Pomelli has also received a broader design refresh, along with upgraded image models that improve prompt accuracy. Businesses can now make text-based edits, such as changing backgrounds or applying style reference images, to further customize their visuals.
Additionally, Pomelli allows users to upload base images or provide a product URL, enabling the platform to automatically pull images, titles, and descriptions from a website to create more targeted marketing content.
Availability
The Photoshoot feature is currently available free of charge to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand through labs.google/pomelli. Google has not yet announced a launch timeline for India.
Gemini 3.1 Pro Announced
Alongside the Photoshoot launch, Google also announced the release of Gemini 3.1 Pro, an upgraded AI model that will be rolled out across the company’s consumer and developer products.
According to Google, Gemini 3.1 Pro is significantly more capable in complex reasoning tasks. On the ARC-AGI-2 benchmark, which measures an AI model’s ability to solve entirely new logic problems, the model achieved a verified score of 77.1 percent, more than double the performance of its predecessor, Gemini 3 Pro.
Google said the advancements reflect its continued focus on making AI tools more practical, accessible, and useful for businesses of all sizes.
