Ten Years of Hard Work, Over 8,000 Saplings Planted and a Mission for a Greener Mungeli
Mungeli, Chhattisgarh: The Stars of Tomorrow Welfare Society, a social organisation based in Mungeli, has been honoured for its notable contribution to environmental conservation at the ‘GenNext Samvad’ programme held in Raipur. The organisation received the state-level recognition from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
The recognition highlights the organisation’s decade-long commitment to environmental protection through its green initiative, ‘Hariyar Mungeli–Sughghar Mungeli’. The society was selected among individuals and organisations recognised for outstanding contributions across 15 different fields in the state.
The honour marks a significant milestone in the organisation’s efforts to promote greenery, encourage public participation in environmental conservation, and create awareness about the importance of protecting nature for future generations.
‘Hariyar Mungeli–Sughghar Mungeli’: A Decade of Green Initiatives
Launched in 2016, the ‘Hariyar Mungeli–Sughghar Mungeli’ campaign has gradually developed into a recognised environmental awareness initiative in Mungeli. Over the past ten years, the Stars of Tomorrow Welfare Society has planted more than 8,000 saplings as part of its sustained efforts to make the district greener and healthier.
According to the organisation, many of these saplings have grown into trees and are now contributing to the local green cover and environmental well-being.
The campaign focuses not only on planting saplings but also on ensuring their survival and long-term growth. The organisation believes that successful environmental conservation cannot be measured merely by the number of saplings planted; their protection and development into mature trees are equally important.
With this objective, the society has adopted a strategy that prioritises quality over quantity. Saplings are provided with tree guards and other necessary protective measures to help them survive and grow.
Through this approach, the organisation aims to develop a lasting green legacy that will benefit future generations.
Focus on Sapling Protection and Long-Term Sustainability
One of the key features of the society’s campaign is its emphasis on the maintenance and protection of planted saplings. Planting trees is only the first step in environmental conservation, and without proper care, many young plants may fail to survive.
Recognising this challenge, the organisation has focused on protecting saplings until they develop into established trees.
The ‘Hariyar Mungeli–Sughghar Mungeli’ initiative reflects the society’s belief that environmental responsibility requires consistent effort, community participation, and long-term commitment.
By encouraging people to take an active interest in protecting trees and maintaining green spaces, the campaign seeks to make environmental conservation a shared responsibility among residents.
The initiative also highlights the importance of local-level efforts in addressing environmental concerns and building awareness about the value of trees in everyday life.
Recognition Belongs to the Entire Team: Rampal Singh Thakur
Expressing happiness over the state-level recognition, society coordinator Rampal Singh Thakur said the honour belonged not to any one individual but to the entire Stars of Tomorrow team, its supporters, and all nature lovers who had contributed to the green campaign over the years.
He said receiving the recognition from the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister was a matter of pride for the organisation.
Thakur added that the honour would inspire the society to continue its environmental conservation activities with greater enthusiasm, energy, and responsibility.
He also emphasised the collective efforts behind the campaign, acknowledging the contributions of everyone who had supported the organisation’s journey towards a greener Mungeli.
State-Level Honour Brings Fresh Motivation
The recognition at the GenNext Samvad programme is an important milestone for the Mungeli-based organisation, which has spent a decade working towards environmental protection and public awareness.
The selection of the society among contributors from 15 different fields has brought attention to its sustained grassroots efforts and its focus on protecting planted saplings rather than limiting its activities to plantation drives.
The achievement also demonstrates how local organisations can contribute to environmental awareness and greener communities through sustained public participation.
A Greener Mungeli for Future Generations
As the ‘Hariyar Mungeli–Sughghar Mungeli’ campaign enters its second decade, the organisation’s central objective remains the promotion of greenery and the protection of trees.
With more than 8,000 saplings planted since 2016, the society aims to continue its efforts to strengthen Mungeli’s green cover and encourage greater community involvement in environmental conservation.
For the Stars of Tomorrow Welfare Society, the state-level honour is not just a recognition of past achievements but also a motivation to continue its work in the years ahead.
The organisation’s decade-long journey reinforces an important message: planting a tree is the beginning of environmental responsibility, while protecting it until it grows is what creates a lasting green legacy.
