PM Modi Condoles the Demise of Norway’s King Harald V

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences following the death of King Harald V of Norway, who passed away peacefully at Oslo University Hospital on Friday, August 28, at the age of 89. The Norwegian Royal Court confirmed his death at 6:35 a.m. local time.

Prime Minister Modi remembered his meeting with King Harald during his visit to Norway earlier this year and praised the monarch’s warmth and deep commitment to serving the Norwegian people.

PM Modi Remembers Meeting with King Harald

Expressing his grief on social media, Prime Minister Modi said he was deeply saddened by the passing of King Harald V.

Modi recalled the memorable meeting with the Norwegian monarch during his visit to Norway earlier this year. He said he had been deeply impressed by King Harald’s warmth and his strong sense of service towards his country.

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the Norwegian Royal Family and the people of Norway.

King Harald V Dies at 89

King Harald V, who had been Norway’s monarch since 1991, died at the age of 89. He was Europe’s oldest reigning monarch at the time of his death. The Royal Court said he died peacefully after being hospitalized in Oslo. (Reuters)

Crown Prince Haakon Becomes King

Following King Harald’s death, his son Crown Prince Haakon immediately succeeded him on the Norwegian throne. He has taken the name King Haakon VIII. (Reuters)
