Bilaspur Range IG Ram Gopal Garg Sensitises Officers and Employees on Cyber Threats; Bilaspur Police Launches ‘Cyber Jagruti Raksha Sutra Abhiyan’
Bilaspur, August 24, 2026: A Cyber Security Awareness Programme was organised at the South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) Headquarters in Bilaspur as part of the three-month Preventive Vigilance Campaign being conducted at SECL under the guidance of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
The programme was organised in coordination with the Chhattisgarh Police’s ‘Cyber Jagruti Abhiyan’, with the objective of increasing awareness about cyber crimes, digital security and safe online practices. On the occasion, the Bilaspur Police also launched the ‘Cyber Jagruti Raksha Sutra Abhiyan’.

Indian Police Service officer Shri Ram Gopal Garg, Inspector General of Police, Bilaspur Range, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and Key Speaker. Shri Rajnesh Singh, Deputy Inspector General and Senior Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur, was present as the Guest of Honour.
The programme was also attended by SECL Director (Technical/Operations) Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar, Director (Human Resources) Shri Biranchi Das, and Director (Technical/Planning & Projects) Shri Ramesh Chandra Mahapatra, along with senior officials and employees of the company.
Focus on Emerging Cyber Crimes and Digital Fraud
Addressing the gathering, IG Ram Gopal Garg highlighted the changing nature of cyber crimes and explained the precautions required to protect individuals and organisations from digital threats.
He briefed participants about various forms of cyber fraud, including phishing attacks, fraudulent links, OTP and KYC fraud, social media-based cyber crimes and online financial scams.
He urged officers and employees to exercise extreme caution while carrying out digital transactions and avoid sharing sensitive information such as OTPs, passwords, banking credentials and other confidential details with unknown persons.
Shri Garg also advised that in case of cyber fraud, victims should report the incident immediately by calling the 1930 Cyber Crime Helpline or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal so that timely action can be initiated.
Cyber Security Is a Collective Responsibility
Highlighting the importance of the ‘Cyber Jagruti Raksha Sutra Abhiyan’, Shri Garg said that cyber security should not be viewed merely as an individual responsibility, but as a collective responsibility of society.
He emphasised that greater public awareness and responsible digital behaviour are essential to prevent cyber criminals from exploiting users through increasingly sophisticated methods.
DIG-SSP Rajnesh Singh Stresses Public Awareness
Guest of Honour Shri Rajnesh Singh underlined the crucial role of public awareness in preventing cyber crimes.
He urged people to remain vigilant while using digital platforms and online financial services and advised them not to respond to suspicious messages, links or calls seeking confidential information.
He also appealed to victims of cyber fraud to lodge complaints without delay through the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, stressing that prompt reporting can be critical in cyber-fraud cases.
Cyber Security Linked with Good Governance and Transparency
The programme also highlighted cyber security as an important component of good governance, transparency and responsible digital behaviour, in line with the broader objectives of SECL’s three-month Preventive Vigilance Campaign.
Participants were provided with practical information on various aspects of cyber security, including safe digital payments, phishing prevention, social media security, online fraud and protection of personal information.
Interactive Question-and-Answer Session
An interactive question-and-answer session was also organised during the programme. Officers and employees raised questions concerning cyber security, digital payments, social media safety, phishing attacks and online financial fraud.
The experts addressed the queries and provided practical guidance on identifying potential cyber threats and adopting safe digital practices.
Employees Take Cyber Safety Pledge
At the conclusion of the programme, officers and employees present at the event took a collective pledge to remain alert against cyber crimes, follow safe digital practices and promote awareness about cyber security among their families, colleagues and the wider community.
The initiative reflects SECL’s continued emphasis on preventive vigilance, digital awareness, transparency and responsible use of technology, while strengthening coordination with law-enforcement agencies to combat the growing threat of cyber crime.
